It’s time to Adjust.
Really excited to announce that I am going to be making a transition to go full time with my own agency Adjust. Offering video production, web design, web development, and photography services.
The name Adjust came to me on a train journey to work in Liverpool in August 2018 during a train of thought. I think if you want to make a change in your life it can appear daunting, whereas if you adjust things slightly and chip away it can lead to the the bigger outcome of change. I feel between a client and agency relationship, the goal of bringing an agency onboard is to gain knowledge, expertise and have a solution which requires the willingness to adjust to their mindset. For me it’s about getting clients into a better position than they were originally, and pushing themselves creatively as well as improving their processes.
It’s taken years of experience to feel confident enough in myself to get into this position and take the risk. I’ve known since I was 17 years old I wanted to run my own business and have had a sample of whats to come with my business Reel Creative, which I launched in 2016 alongside my full time job. Throughout my time in this industry I’ve always been in a position where I can learn from all the good and bad experiences I've had in order to learn the dos and don’ts of running an agency. The most important thing I’ve learnt is to value the people around you. An agency is just a name, and it’s the people who matter more than anything. I’ve worked and delivered over 500 web and video projects throughout my career and I can definitely say it’s the people around you that matter more than anything. I’ve been extremely lucky to have that throughout my working life. I’ve reached the point in my life now at 26 where it’s now or never to get things up and running.
A while ago I read a book called Ikigai. Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being." The word translated to English roughly means "thing that you live for" or "the reason for which you wake up in the morning”. In the book it talks about a Michelin three-star sushi restaurant located in a Tokyo Metro station. The owner Jiro doesn’t want to grow any larger than the one small ten seater restaurant at the station, all that matters is making the best sushi in the world. I have no goal to make this a ‘big agency’ I just want to do great things and deliver projects I’m proud of. Video production is where I find my creative flow in particular, and this is my Ikigai.
I want to create more than just an agency, I want to educate, empower and make a difference to people and help people so they feel confident enough to adjust their mindset - especially if they’re unhappy or unfulfilled. We’ll create a series of videos, podcasts and interviews with other creatives to discuss experiences and industry knowledge which I think will be valuable to others (I hope!).
So this is all I’m going to do now. Adjust my life slightly. I have the right support network of great people around me and will now be based in our new office space in Liverpool city centre with a London base in Chelsea. My inbox is open to all, so if you have a project in mind or just want to have a chat, drop an email to josh@adjust.studio and keep an eye on our brand new website launch coming soon on adjust.studio
